Introduction
The Food Safety Commission of Japan (FSCJ), based on the “Basic Matters” referred to in Article 21-1 of the Food Safety Basic Law (approved by the Cabinet on January 16, 2004), is obliged to establish guidelines for assessing the effect of foods on human health.
