Greatly simplified certification requirements for U.S. beef and poultry exported to Trinidad and Tobago (TT) became effective on November 15, 2013. Similarly, streamlined certification requirements for U.S. dairy, pet foods, and other animal products exported to TT were made effective on August 29, 2013. This was the result of technical discussions, held in Port of Spain in August 2012 and again in August 2013, between FAS, APHIS, and FSIS officials with their counterparts at the TT Ministries of Health and Food Production. TT is the largest importer of U.S. agricultural and related products in the CBATO region ($392.5 million in 2012), with animal products accounting for nearly a quarter ($87.3 million) of this trade.
