This report is an index of all agricultural product import regulations and standards translated and published by the Office of Agriculture Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing through December 2013.
During 2013, China continued to streamline its regulatory system for imported food and agricultural products,upgraded the domestic food safety regime, and solicited public comments for revisions to the 2009 Food Safety Law. Recent refinements accentuated this shift toward a more vertical, product-oriented structure in China’s food safety management. The GAIN report “The Food Safety Management System in China” (CH13020) provides an overview of the Chinese food safety regulatory infrastructure and import control policies.
This report captures the key standards and provisions that relate to imported products destined for the Chinese market and notes changes or modifications to existing standards.
