After last year’s “coffee leaf rust” impacted harvest, many Guatemalan farmers heavily pruned their trees; some replanted with newer varieties, and most continued periodic fumigations to control the fungus. As a result of those measures, overall coffee production in marketing year 2013/14 (October 2013-September 2014) did not drop as much as had been feared.
