Report Highlights:
Bangladesh’s HRI sector is growing consistently at over 7.5 percent per annum, and has since 2008. The sector’s contribution to the country’s GDP was $924 million in FY 2011-12, and $843 million in FY10-11, which constitutes roughly three quarters of a percent of GDP. The bulk of demand in the
HRI sector arises from Bangladesh’s growing middle class population, now estimated at over 30 million. In 2009, Bangladesh attracted only 267,000 foreign tourists, making tourism a relatively small segment.
