Report Highlights:
In order to export U.S. processed meat and poultry products to Uruguay, in addition to providing the FSIS form 9060-5 to the Ministry of Agriculture, the product must also be registered with the Intendencia Municipal de Montevideo, and receive a Certificate of Marketing from Technical Laboratory of Uruguay. This report provides more information on this process.
General Information:
Any U.S. supplier of processed meat and poultry products, who is interested in exporting his/her products to Uruguay, must register the product with Intendencia Municipal de Montevideo (IMM) and obtain a Certificate of Marketing (Certificado de Comercialización, in Spanish) from the Technical
Laboratory of Uruguay (LATU, in Spanish).
1) For one-time registration and subsequent importation of the product, a copy of FSIS Form 9060-5 that is legalized by a consular authority (The Hague Apostille is also valid) must be submitted to the IMM. Furthermore, the IMM also requires that the product meet the requirements listed in Official Resolution #1084/2004. Contact information for the IMM is as follows:Intendencia Municipal de Montevideo

2) The LATU is responsible for inspecting the merchandise, taking samples of the product and analyzing them, and concluding whether the product is safe to be released to the market for sale. After the product is registered, the LATU will issue a Certificate of Marketing. More information can be
