Russia:Customs Union Publishes SPS Measures for Public Comment

The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), which is the regulatory body of the Russia-KazakhstanBelarus Customs Union (CU), published three draft documents on its website amending its veterinarysanitary requirements and the regulation on veterinary control, as well as adding two new forms of
uniform veterinary certificates – for earth worms and gelatin. There is a 60-day public comment period, starting June 25, 2013, and ending August 23, 2013. Interested U.S. parties are encouraged to share their comments and concerns with USDA’s enquiry point (IRSD@fas.usda.gov). As of the date of
publication of this report, FAS/Moscow does not believe these measures have been notified to the World Trade Organization.
