Despite the high trade barrier, South Korean consumers maintain strong demand for imported honey for quality, value and diversity. Korea’s natural honey imports amounted to $7.6 million in 2013 and the United States remained the leading supplier by accounting for 46 percent of the imports. The KoreaUnited States Free Trade Agreement (KORUS FTA) has established zero-tariff import quota on American honey. As a result, Korea’s honey imports from the United States are expected to continue a solid growth in the coming years.
