Report Highlights:
The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of China has published the Administrative Measures on Inspection, Quarantine and Supervision of Import and Export of Dairy Products, which will take effect on May 1, 2013. A draft version was notified to the WTO as
G/SPS/N/CHN/355 on March 23, 2011. (see GAIN report 3/24/2011 ). This measure is targeting increased oversight of dairy products, both imported and domestic, and reflects China’s implementation under the 2009 Food Safety Law of a system wide focus on traceability and on product standards.
