(Applicable to products where mold is not masked by large amounts of tissues.)

Determine net weight (g) of can contents. Drain contents 3 min on 8 in. (20 cm) No. 8 sieve, 945.75B(r) (see 16.1.01), in pan. Remove fruit from sieve with spoon and discard. Wash can and sieve with ca 300 mL H2O from wash bottle, saving liquid and washings. Quantitatively transfer combined liquid and washings onto 5 in. (12.7 cm) No. 16 sieve resting in 2 L beaker. Wash residue on sieve with ca 50 mL H2O, and discard residue. Quantitatively transfer combined liquid and washings onto 5 in. (12.7 cm) No. 230 sieve, tilted at ca 30° angle, and discard liquid and washings. Wash tissue to lower
edge of sieve with H2O.

With wash bottle and spatula, transfer residue from sieve to 50mL graduated thick-walled centrifuge tube with minimum volumeH2O. For volumes 10 mL, use (a); >10mLbut 30 mL, use (b); for >30 mL, use (c).
