Report Highlights:
Honduras ranks first in Central America, third in Latin America, and sixth globally in coffee exports by volume. Honduran coffee production in marketing year 2013/2014 (October 2013 – September 2014) is forecast at 5.10 million 60-kilogram bags. Coffee exports for 2013/2014 are forecast at 5.06 million bags; however, coffee production for the coming years will face challenges due to the coffee leaf rust, which has impacted 25 percent, roughly 71,000 ha. of the area planted with coffee in Honduras.
Exports in 2011/2012 soared to 5.5 million bags, 41 percent higher than the previous year, with a record export value of US$1.43 billion.
