Ukraine Grain and Oilseed Crops Look Good Near Poltava 2013

In Ukraine's Poltava region, FAS officials visited corn, oilseed, and wheat plots, and based on observations and conversations with local agronomists, they appear to be progressing well. The fields in this part of the country seemes to have received enough rainfall to continue healthy growth. Some fields looked like they were planted later in the season, so the plant development stages were lagging behind, but farmers did not express undo concern about this later start to the growing season.

Some pictures taken during field travel by the Foreign Agricultural Service team in Ukraine conducted June 10-11, 2013 between Kyiv and Poltava are shown below. Quite a few fields of corn and sunflower fields were observed to be in good and excellent condition. The plants looked healthy and were developing well enough considering the good rainfall in this part of the country.
